Surge 2014

‘Surge’  is the epic adventure that all members of Incedo pack their gumboots for each year.  Every year we get to serve some community in a significant way somewhere on the motu.  Some years we have partnered with the Refugee community in Hamilton, while last year we had a ball  – literally –  with the beautiful dancers of the Idea community  (formerly IHC ) in New Plymouth.

In September this  year about 80 of us imploded into Turangi to work with Sam Chapman;  his family now resident  in what was once a maternity hospital. Sam has done yonks of good work in Auckland with the Notorious Mongrel Mob chapter and other community developments. We got to stay on marae and get on the paint brush and shovel and rake making the Chapman’s big vision for a welcoming space for all that need a bed and kai and aroha that little bit closer.  It was a privilege to connect with the Chapman whanau and build a link with the future they envisage creating in Turangi.  Viva Surge!  ……till next year .
